Aaliyah Denise Booker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Booker. She grew up in Fort Lauderdale and graduated from American Hertiage School in Plantation. She was a member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter for 11 years before graduating out in 2020. During her 11 year membership, Aaliyah was on the Regional Nominating Committee at the Teen Conference and the Teen Recording Secretary in 2019. Aaliyah was the recipent of the Jack and Jill of America Outstanding Female Athlete Division II Best in Class, Jack and Jill of America National Youth Servant Leader and Jill and Jill of America Outstanding Leadership Award in 2019.

Aaliyah is currently enrolled as a third-year student at Penn State University. She is a Criminal Justice Major with minors in Psychological Sciences, Civic and Community Engagement. Aaliyah has a 3.9 GPA and has maintained the Dean’s List 4 of 4 semesters since her enrollment at Penn State. She is also a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society.

• Campus Student Life Leadership Award 2022 & 2023. This award is presented annually to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership in student activities, student organizations, and community service.
• Eric A. & Josephine S. Walker Award 2022 & 2023. The Walker award is the highest award given at Penn State. It recognizes undergraduate students whose outstanding qualities of character, scholarship, leadership and citizenship ihave been directed into programs and services that have positively influenced fellow students and have contributed to the prestige and well-being of their campus and the reputation of the University as a whole. With Aaliyah being a two-time award winner, this has afforded Penn State the opportunity to make history.

Aaliyah holds several positions on campus. She is a member of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Committee, the VP of Lion Ambassadors, the VP of Black Student Union, the Treasurer of the Varsity Club, the Treasurer of the Criminal Justice Club, a Captain of the Women’s Basketball Team and a Resident Assistant. Before taking on the role of RA, Aaliyah also worked as a Peer Mentor. Aaliyah is also a member of the Christianity Club and The Roar Student Newspaper where she wrote an articleOctober 26, 2020 titled, “Activities go on despite COVID constraints”.

Aaliyah knows that excellence is a journey, not simply a destination. This perspective has inspired her to develop, inspire and mentor so many students at Penn State. She has a conscientious temperament which allows her to work with the professional staff and assume the role as a student leader without abusing her authority. In the residence hall most students gravitate toward her and seek her help, advice, and friendship even when she’s not the RA on duty.

After graduation next year, Aaliyah plans to travel abroad before entering UGA, Howard or Harvard Law School.
