Fred Taylor is a former college and professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League for thirteen seasons during the 1990s and 2000s. He played college football for the University of Florida and was recognized as an All-American. Taylor was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the ninth overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft and played for the Jacksonville Jaguars for eleven seasons and New England Patriots for two seasons. Taylor is a member of the 10,000-yard rushing club. He is a native Floridian who grew up under tough circumstances. However, he never let his childhood circumstances discourage him from a childhood dream of buying his grandmother her first home.
Taylor rushed for 1,223 and 14 touchdowns his rookie season, while also catching 44 passes for 421 yards and three touchdowns. He set 63 Jaguars team records as a rookie and was runner-up Rookie of the Year to Randy Moss.
Taylor achieved many accolades during his 13-year NFL career, including THE FEDEX GROUND PLAYER OF THE YEAR, NFL All-Pro and Pro Bowl status. He was the second person ever inducted into the Jacksonville Jaguars ‘Pride of the Jaguars’ where his name is forever enshrined in the Jaguars stadium. Taylor has also been nominated on multiple occasions for the NFL PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME.
Fred is a philanthropist who supports various charities that tackle problems in disadvantaged communities. He is currently a co-host of the influential and widely popular sports podcast ‘The Pivot’ where he has interviewed Shaquille O’Neal, Floyd Mayweather, Kevin Heart, Caitlyn Jenner, Dwyane Wade, and others. The Pivot has amassed over 87 million total views. Fred is married to Andrea, and has six children Kelvin, Nataajah, Inari, Austin, Braylon, and Cannon. The Taylor family has been proud members of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter of Jack and Jill since 2016.
