On behalf of the Arts Facet of the Annapolis (MD) Chapter, in partnership with the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum (BDTM), we invite you to join us as an inaugural co-sponsor of an exclusive, invitation-only reception, and private preview of the She Speaks exhibit at the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum on February 18, 2026, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM. As the State of Maryland’s official museum of African American heritage, BDTM serves to document, interpret, and promote African American history and culture in Maryland through exhibitions, programs, and projects to improve the understanding and appreciation of America’s rich cultural diversity for all.

BACKGROUND | She Speaks Exhibit
Throughout history, Black women have been at the forefront of shaping, preserving, and reinterpreting narratives of resistance, resilience, and transformation. She Speaks brings together the work of contemporary Black women artists who document historical events, reclaim overlooked histories, and challenge dominant narratives through their creative practices.

The exhibition highlights artists as historians, archivists, and storytellers. Through deeply personal and politically charged works, they bear witness to the past while illuminating its impact on the present — and envisioning futures in which Black freedom and self-determination are fully realized. Some artists reimagine historical figures and events through Afrofuturist frameworks, offering alternative timelines and cosmic perspectives, while others unearth hidden histories and bring marginalized voices into new, transformative focus.

Featuring: Faith Ringgold, Alanna Fields, Khaleelah I. L. Harris, Dr. Joan M. E. Gaither, Darlene R. Taylor, Sonya Clark, Martha Jackson Jarvis, Ada Pinkston, and Beverly Price.
