Harriet Wallace is an award-winning multimedia journalist at Fox 17 News in Nashville. You can watch her every day at 5:30 p.m., discussing the news of the day. You can also watch her on Sunday mornings at 9:30, where she co-hosts Nashville In Focus. Harriet is the first African American at Fox 17 News to host an original talk show. She is also a Nashville native who graduated from Hunters Lane High School. She has spent nearly two decades in the business and is the lead host of the popular Pumps & Politics talk show, which she created. She has also been at the forefront of many of the country's biggest headlines and was the only news reporter from Northwest Arkansas to be embedded with the Red Cross during Hurricane Katrina. She also provided network news coverage for Hurricane Rita. Not one to miss the big story, she covered other big news events such as the Virginia Tech mass shooting and the Mary Winkler trial. She doesn't just report. Harriet has produced Emmy award-winning newscasts. You can find her in the community when she's not in the newsroom covering the big stories. She is co-founder of the North Nashville Flood Relief Group that helped more than 500 residents recover from the historic 2010 flood. She's received numerous community awards and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, Links, Inc and is a former two-term president of the Nashville chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. When she's not practicing journalism, she's teaching it. She teaches journalism and communications on the collegiate level and has won awards for her teaching, such as Journalism Educator of the Year by the Southeastern Journalism Conference. Harriet received her undergraduate degree from Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism, her Master’s from Austin Peay State University, and is currently a candidate for her Ph.D. in Public Administration. She is happily married to Scott Wallace with whom they co-own Wallace Media Group and a semi-pro football team. Together, they have helped send more than 100 students to college on sports scholarships and dozens of players to professional sports teams.
