The BCP Trio is well known throughout the New Orleans area and beyond for providing quality music and entertainment. The group has performed at numerous private and public events for over ten years and always comes ready to accommodate any occasion. From Traditional or Smooth Jazz to R & B dance classics, the group promises to delight and satisfy any audience. Members of the group have performed on numerous local, national, and international Festival stages.
The BCP Trio is led by Pianist, Clark J. Knighten. At the tender age of 5, Clark began his musical tutelage under the instruction of the late Georgianna Pierce. His passion for music grew, and by the age of 16, Clark was sharing his gift of music with several church ministries throughout the Greater New Orleans area. Clark completed his formal musical training at Xavier University with the completion of his Bachelor of Arts degree. Upon completion of his degree, Clark continued ministering and performing the length and breadth of this country and even the world. Throughout his career, he has held numerous titles and positions such as Composer, Producer, Recording Artist, Minister of Music, Choral Teacher, Clinician, Television/ Movie Casting Consultant.
As Drummer, Shannon G. Hamilton is the heartbeat of the group and provides silky-smooth vocal stylings. Shannon has been performing publicly since high school with many New Orleans musical legends. As a teenager, he collaborated with several other talented artists and formed a show band known as the Creators. The band was top-rated at local high school and college events and featured a horn section that included Grammy award-winning artists Branford and Wynton Marsalis. A versatile, well- respected and experienced musician, Shannon has performed and recorded with Jazz, Gospel, and R & B artists from all over the United States and abroad.
“Snap” is not only the name by which Bassist Sylvester Andrews is recognized, but it also describes his funky yet articulate touch on the bass guitar. Picking up the bass while still in high school, he was thought of by many of his classmates and musical contemporaries as a kind of “human jukebox.” He had the uncanny ability to play all the hottest and most popular bass licks from the 1960s & 1970s. His exceptional talent and wide range of repertoire have been set him apart as one of New Orleans premier bass artists. For close to 50 years, "Snap" has been recognized for his dynamic and inspiring energy on stage his easy-going personality and his professional reliability. Performing on many scenes with a host of Gospel, Jazz, R & B, and Blues artists, he is most often in high demand both locally and abroad.
Brandon Harris is a talented virtuoso on the violin and joins the trio from time to time to add that special ambiance and touch of class. Classically trained; however, he is well versed and experienced as a Jazz and contemporary music artist in his own right. Starting his musical training at the age of 5 on piano, Brandon soon transitioned to studying violin by age 6. In High School, he performed in the school Orchestra and participated in the "Talented in Music Program" for outstanding young musicians. While studying music theory as the University of Notre Dame, Brandon had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall with the Notre Dame Orchestra. He has worked previously at Lincoln Center in New York and performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. In addition to performing with the BCP Trio and other local artists, he presently serves as Assistant Director and Musical Accompanist at Gretna United Methodist Church.
