Dr. Sherilyn Duckworth, MPH is an experienced program manager and public health researcher. She has more than 10 years of experience leading programs, supervising staff, and collaborating with faculty, students, and community leaders to eliminate health disparities. Dr. Duckworth has worked on many public health concerns including COVID-19, HIV, HPV, maternal and infant mortality rate, diabetes, and hypertension. Dr. Duckworth is a suicide attempt survivor and passionate mental health and suicide prevention advocate. Due to her related advocacy and programs created by A Friend of Mind, Dr. Duckworth was recently awarded the Rising Star Award from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National Alumni Society. She was also awarded the Community Impact Award from UAB Student Leadership and Affairs, named a CEO Finalist by Birmingham Business Journal, and listed as an honoree for 2020 Women Who Shape the State (Alabama). Dr. Duckworth is married to Michael and they have three children, Ava, Emmitt, and Frances. Dr. Duckworth enjoys traveling, giving back to her community, and spending time with family.
