Speaker Bio
Justin Davis joined the United States Foreign Service in 2009 as a Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellow. He is currently a Senior Watch Officer in the State Department Operations Center, the Department’s 24-hour emergency response and communications hub. Later this summer, he will transition to serve as Chief of Staff in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, working with the Department’s lead on Middle East policy. Further in Washington, he served as the Deputy Director of the Orientation Division, leading and training the Department’s newest diplomats. He also served as the Department’s lead on Venezuelan Affairs from 2016-2018, during the height of the humanitarian crisis. Justin’s overseas assignments include Political Unit Lead in Embassy Havana during the reopening of the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba; Political Officer in Embassy New Delhi, India; and Fraud Prevention Manager and Consular Officer in Monterrey, Mexico.

Prior to the Foreign Service, Justin was a teaching assistant at Georgetown University for renowned professor, author, and theologian Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. He also helped to found and led the Neo-Underground Railroad Conductors, a national social organization dedicated to empowering youth. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Cornell University. He is the recipient of several State Department Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards, and is a member of the International Career Advancement Program and a National Security Fellow at the Truman National Security Project. Justin is an award-winning spoken word artist and enjoys outdoor sports. He is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. the nation’s oldest collegiate Black Greek Letter Organization. He speaks Spanish and French. Justin lives in Springfield, VA, with his wife and son.
