Speaker Bio
Big Zak was born in Southwest Atlanta, East Point to be exact. The famed hood called out in many a Southern hip hop classic can claim another legendary music veteran as its own. As a rapper turned writer, Biz Zak has been instrumental in some of the most memorable tracks of the last 15 years. His writing skills on Keri Hilson’s 2010 hit, “Turnin Me On” and Lloyd’s 2008 single “Get It Shawty” earned him recognition as one of the top urban music writers in the industry. Now turning his attention to his own career as an artist, Big Zak is preparing to take the stage. Big Zak is a member of Southern rap royalty. Working with classic artists like MC Breed, Too Short and Kool Ace from the very beginning made way for him to become the preferred ghostwriter for artists wanting the sound that Atlanta made famous. Having a close friendship and working relationship with mega hit producer Jazze Pha, resulted in a partnership with Sho Nuff Records. In his time with Sho Nuff, Big Zak was part of the team that discovered and created international recording artists Young Jeezy, and Ciara. Ciara’s breakout hit, “Goodies” is a credit to Zak’s writing, which earned the star a top 10 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, two BMI Awards, a Grammy nomination and two World Music Award nominations. Big Zak was also responsible for brokering and co-writing a collaborative album with Ceelo Green and Jazze Pha entitled “Happy Hour”. While Ceelo and Jazze were on tour promoting Happy Hour, Big Zak was busy in the studio recording his street popular debut “Major Visibility”. “To watch Happy Hour and Major Visibility not take off commercially took a lot out of me and made me question my involvement in music. But having worked with and written for some of the most influential artists in the game – Nelly, Polow da Don, Rick Ross, Bun B, Pimp C and Snoop Dog, I knew I still had a story to tell. ” Wallace grew up in a food desert, where he experienced an environment plagued with empty calories, high fats and sky-high sodium levels. Wallace saw first-hand the effects of food insecurity and how poor eating habits frustrated the health and wellbeing of his community. In 2017, he sought out to make a difference. Starting with a Local Green Atlanta food truck, Wallace wanted to spread an awareness for tasty, fulfilling plantbased cuisine in these Atlanta communities. Now, his Vine City restaurant, Local Green Atlanta, continues to spread that message, serving not just health—but hope. Now many of Atlanta’s top musical artists including Ciara, Ceelo Green, Keri Hilson, Ludacris, TI, Rick Ross and so many others are patrons Big Zak’s restaurant on Joseph E. Lowry Blvd.
