Catherine is one of the music industry’s leading executives. With an ear for current trends as well as an appreciation of legacy artists, she is a trusted advocate for music’s thriving creative community. As BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Brewton directs all of BMI’s Atlanta office outreach to songwriters and music publishers while working closely with Writer/Publisher staff members in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville and London to bring top songwriters, producers and artists to BMI.

Brewton and her staff create and participate in educational, networking and showcase events specifically designed to inform and elevate up-and-coming and established songwriters alike. She produces and host many of BMI’s marquee annual events, including the BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards, the Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards, installments of BMI’s popular “How I Wrote That Song” panel series focusing on Grammy-nominated songwriters and producers, and BMI’s annual Unsigned R&B/Hip-Hop and Pop Showcase.

Brewton joined BMI from her position as Executive Director of the Recording Academy (NARAS). She opened BMI’s Atlanta office in 1997 as Director, Writer/Publisher Relations, and was promoted to Senior Director in 1999; named Assistant Vice President in 2005. Brewton is involved in many organizations affiliated with her profession as well as community outreach. She is the founder and chairwoman of Hope for the Harvest. Brewton recently released the Hope for Harvest Coffee Table Book a Visual Journey of Faith, Hope & Love.
