A Virginia native, Nsenga K. Burton, Ph.D. is a proud mother member of the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill, Incorporated and a member of the Sweet Southeastern region’s social media committee. She is a professor of film and media at Emory University and founder and editor-in-chief of The Burton Wire, an award-winning news site covering news of the African Diaspora. Dr. Burton is co-editor of the book, Black Women’s Mental Health: Balancing Strength and Vulnerability (SUNY Press). Nsenga attended undergrad at Northwestern University and holds advanced degrees in film and TV from New York University (NYU), University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) and University of Southern California (USC). She is the immediate past chair of the Atlanta Youth Commission, a media and journalism mentor for the Southeastern Region of Jack and Jill, Incorporated and a consultant to Kids Video Connection in Atlanta.
