Tammy Means is a proud member of the Birmingham, Alabama Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated. After deciding to fully engage her family in the phenomenal programming of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter, Tammy became a member of Jack and Jill of America in May 2015. She immediately became an active Mother Member with chair and co-chair appointments and has held several leadership positions within the Organization since installation, including Assistant Program Director, Program Director, and Grade Group Coordinator, Five Star Chair, and Strategic Planning Chair to name a few. She has served on the Regional Program Committee for the past five years and now serves as Regional Program Chair. As Regional Programming Chair, RPC Tammy continues to display unwavering commitment to Program Directors and serves as a strong anchor and mentor in helping chapters execute stellar programming. Tammy believes, “God has written the vision for me, and it is through His vision that I humbly serve.”

Tammy brings 25+ years of experience in project management, information technology, workforce development, and economic development. She currently serves as Program Manager for multiple private and public sector contracts to improve healthcare through research, data and action. Tammy is a three-time graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, a Master of Science in Computer Engineering, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Capital Development. She has served as Southern Regional Director for the Parent Teacher Association, Board Chair for The Entrepreneur Project®, Board Member for the Association for Talent Development, Member at Large for Health Information Management Systems Society, Chapter Treasurer for the American Business Women’s Association, Chapter President and Tri-State Conference Chair of the Health Information Management Systems Society and Literacy Chair and Hispanic Interest Coalition Assocation Chair for the Junior League of Birmingham.

Regional Programming Chair, Tammy actively works on several community, regional, and national boards that represent the interests and disparities of minorities, healthcare, literacy and technology and continues to dedicate her time to eliminate barriers to digital literacy and entrepreneurship to create more sustainable African American and Latina families.

Tammy and her husband, Kenneth Means, Jr., are proud parents of Kalen Javon (23), Kennedy Talia (18), Kenneth Akili (15), and Kendyl Kristina (3. Tammy enjoys traveling, listening to live music, hiking, and reading. She finds her happiest moments when she can kick back and relax with her family.
