Crystal Pendleton Shahid is an innovative banking operations and loan workout specialist whose passion and life work are dedicated to service. She applies the principles and experience she’s cultivated from her experience in working with small businesses and non-profit boards into her work. Her background includes process improvement strategy and execution, financial process development, implementation and compliance, and entrepreneurial strategies for small businesses. Her banking skillset is truly transferable across industries, and she is an entrepreneur in her own right, working with families to capture special moments through her photography business.
Professionally, Crystal is a Loan Workout Specialist in Special Assets with Synovus Financial Corporation, having joined the company in 2006. She most recently received the William B. Turner Community Impact Award for her work with diversity and inclusion, and community service, joining the coveted Chairman’s Circle of Excellence. Prior to joining Special Assets, Crystal managed and implemented centralized small business loan processing improvements for the five-state footprint, rounding out her end to end loan life cycle experience. Previous roles include serving as a Senior Credit Analyst, a Small Business Credit Supervisor, and Assistant Branch Manager.
A native of Columbus, Georgia, Crystal is active in her community through Jack and Jill of America, Inc. (Legacy Member-COLGA), Junior League of Columbus (Sustainer), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Historic Columbus Board of Trustees, CSU Friends of Art, Columbus Technical College Board of Directors, City of Columbus Pension Fund Trustee, and Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. You can also find her supporting her two HBCU alma maters, Fort Valley State University and Albany State University through her work with the Fountain City Classic, Inc. She is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Georgia and served as the Board Treasurer from 2017-2019.
Crystal is the elder daughter of Howard and Jeanella Pendleton. She is happily married to Zaki Shahid, a native of Washington, D.C., and they have two sons; 10-year-old, Zaki, Jr., who is affectionately known as “Deuce,” and 4-year-old Zion. She has one sister, Christine, who resides in Chicago, Illinois and works in executive sourcing and consulting.
