Dr. Keisha Lowther is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Stillman College, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1998. After completing her degree, Dr. Lowther studied Serotonin Uptake Inhibitor medications at Wyeth Ayerst Pharmaceuticals in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey. She also worked in the Pediatric Cardiology Research Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she investigated immune cell migration in children with congenital heart defects.

Dr. Lowther attended Meharry Medical College, where she served as President of the Student National Medical Association Chapter, and she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Upon completing her medical degree, she was admitted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program.

As a National Health Service Corps Scholarship recipient, Dr. Lowther chose to work in the Black Belt in Greene County, Alabama, at Maude Whatley Health Services. She continues to be passionate about health disparities and minority access to adequate healthcare.

In 2012, she opened her own solo primary care practice, Generations Primary Care, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she practices with her husband, whom she met in medical school. Dr. Lowther has completed medical mission trips in Brazil, Haiti, and Kenya.

She is the Immediate Past Lead Teen Sponsor of the Tuscaloosa Chapter of Jack and Jill, where she became a member in 2011. In addition to a host of chapter committees, she has fulfilled duties as Age Group Sponsor, Program Director, Vice President, and President. She has served as the Region’s Time and Place Committee Chair, Health Advocacy Committee Chair, and Co-Chair of the Region's Program Committee. Dr. Lowther also served as the National Small Chapter Task Force Chair. She currently serves as Regional Teen Advisor.

Dr. Lowther is a member of the Eta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Incorporated, the Tuscaloosa (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and she is the Immediate Past Board President of the Alabama Choir School.

She and her husband, Jamie, have three children, Evan, Adia, and SER Regional TeenPresident Jeremiah. Dr. Lowther enjoys couponing, cooking, and playing with the family dogs.
