Nikki Bethel is a dynamic, results-driven senior leader with over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, diversity, equity & inclusion, talent management, leadership development, and public speaking. She is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Emma L. Bowen Foundation (EBF). In this role, Nikki is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the overall EBF mission to prepare students of color for the workforce and increase and sustain diversity in the media industry. She is the primary spokesperson for the Foundation and works with the Board of Directors, staff and stakeholders to develop the future strategic direction of EBF and oversee the execution and communication of that strategy across the organization, with corporate partners and the broader industry. Nikki also guides and oversees the financial sustainability of the Foundation, maintains the EBF brand identity, and successfully implements operational improvements to support the long-term success of the Foundation’s mission.
Prior to the Emma Bowen Foundation, Nikki was the Senior Vice President of Talent Management for Home Box Office, Inc., and was responsible for overseeing the areas of talent acquisition and organizational effectiveness, which encompasses executive leadership and coaching, management training and professional development, employee communications and initiatives. She also oversaw integrated business solutions, including culture, talent assessment, succession planning and organizational strategy.

Danielle Buchanan has been shaping the lives of children through the art of dance for the past 15 years. A native of Connecticut, Danielle grew up dancing at a local dance studio in Stratford, CT for 14 years then took her dance studies to Harlem School of Arts for one year. Her love of dance transferred into college where she majored in Psychology and minored in Dance. While attending Central Connecticut State University, Danielle co-created a hip hop dance group called Toxic where they performed and won at Showtime at the Apollo in Harlem, NY and opened up for artist such as, Sean Paul, 112 and was the opening act for Hot 93.7 Jingle Jam Concert.

Danielle realized at an early age her love of helping others and received her master’s degree in social work from New York University in 2013. She is currently a fulltime clinical therapist where she helps children and families with mental and behavioral health issues. Danielle teaches ballet and hip hop at Tia Russell’s Dance Studio in Woodbridge CT and is also a wellness coach where she helps others achieve their desired nutritional goals through healthy supplements, meal guides and workout plans. Danielle hosts a hip hop cardio class every Sunday afternoon in Bridgeport, CT for teens & adults who are interested in a fun way to exercise.

Danielle is a wife and mother to her 3 year old daughter Caia, 5 month old son Chace and her bonus son Casey who is 12.

Amanda J. Calhoun, MD, MPH, is a third year Adult/Child Psychiatry Resident at Yale School of Medicine. Within the Psychiatry residency at Yale, she is on the Child & Adolescent research track, where she receives protected research time each year and is automatically accepted into the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship. At the end of her 6-year residency, she will be double boarded in Adult as well as Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Calhoun is also pursuing her PhD while in residency. Her current research aims to identify and mitigate the effects of racism on the mental health of Black children, in particular Black girls. Dr. Calhoun graduated from Yale University with a BA in Spanish and received her MD/MPH from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, in St. Louis, Missouri, where she grew up. She aims to increase representation of Black populations, both in the USA and abroad, in academic research and has first-authored a plethora of manuscripts, including in the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Calhoun also considers herself a physician-activist and has given a myriad of presentations and protest speeches exposing racism in the medical system. She has also appeared on national television, including PBS Newshour, and been featured in TIME magazine for her activism in medicine. Dr. Calhoun firmly believes that all doctors should be activists and promotes the integration of social justice teaching with education.

Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick was appointed the seventeenth president of Howard University in 2014. He previously served as provost and chief academic officer.  Most recently, the Howard University Board of Trustees selected Dr. Frederick to serve as the distinguished Charles R. Drew Professor of Surgery.
Dr. Frederick has advanced Howard University's commitment to student opportunity, academic innovation, public service, and fiscal stability. He has overseen a series of reform efforts, including the expansion of academic offerings, establishing innovative programs to support student success and the modernization of university facilities.

Dr. Frederick received his B.S and M.D. from Howard University.  Following his post-doctoral research and surgical oncology fellowships at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Frederick began his academic career as associate director of the cancer center at the University of Connecticut. Upon his return to Howard University, his academic positions included associate dean in the College of Medicine, division chief in the Department of Surgery, director of the Cancer Center and deputy provost for Health Sciences. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Howard University’s School of Business in 2011.

Dr. Frederick is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, abstracts, and editorials and is a widely recognized expert on disparities in healthcare and medical education. His medical research focuses on narrowing racial, ethnic and gender disparities in cancer-care outcomes, especially pertaining to gastrointestinal cancers.

Dr. Prosper is a trilingual Canadian native of Haitian descent who grew up in Montreal, Quebec. She currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts and is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience working with racially and ethnically diverse children, adolescents, adults, and families, as well as Haitian immigrants, youth with autism spectrum disorders, and youth with congenital HIV diagnosis. Dr. Prosper graduated from Boston College's doctoral program in counseling psychology and completed a two-year school-based clinical postdoctoral fellowship at the Boston's Children's Hospital Neighborhood Partnerships Program. Dr. Prosper is presently engaged in a three-pronged career where she provides school-based clinical services as clinical coordinator at Boston Latin school, sees patients within her private practice, all while having taught a complement of graduate classes as an adjunct professor at Boston College, Lesley University, and William James College and now as part-time Associate Professor of the Practice within the Counseling Psychology Department of Boston College.
