Currently a Life Member, Melanie C. Lynn was an active member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. for 14 years (2002 – 2016). She served three (3) years as the Mid-Western Regional Director - 2012 (appointed) and 2013 – 2015 (elected). Melanie’s leadership legacy focused on enhancing the Region’s teen programming. An enhanced teen engagement structure expanded opportunities for teens to participate beyond the Chapter level and influence their Teen Leadership Conference experience as committee leaders at the cluster and regional levels. The expanded teen engagement structure continues to facilitate leadership training and enhanced participation in the experience as a Jack and Jill Teen.

Melanie also served as a 2013 – 2015 member of the Board of Directors of the Jack and Jill Foundation. She began her service on the Regional Executive Board in 2011 when she was elected as the region’s first Regional Secretary. Melanie served as the Mid-Western Region’s Program Director and the Region’s representative to the 2010 – 2012 National Program Committee. Melanie is proud of her involvement with developing our Regional tween programming initiatives that bridged youth engagement and prepared tweens for Regional Teen Conference. She is also proud to be the 2010 recipient of the Mid-Western Region’s Distinguished Mother of the Year Award.

Melanie is honored to have served as president and program director (2 terms) of the Greater Lansing Chapter (MI). Melanie is also proud to have been a member of West Suburban Chicago Chapter (IL) where she served as editor.

Melanie and Wayne, her husband of over 30 years, are the parents of three (3) “Jills” – Lauren (Washington DC Public School Teacher), Brittney (Supply Chain Professional in Washington DC | 2011 – 2013 MW Region Teen Nominating Committee Chair) and Chanel (Systems Engineer in Atlanta, GA | 2014 – 2015 MW Region Teen Communications Co-Chair). The Lynn family is committed to Jack and Jill. Wayne served the MW Region as the 2008 – 2014 Father’s Auxiliary Chair and the national organization as the 2010 National Father’s Auxiliary Chair.

Melanie received her BS in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and her MBA/Operations Management from the University of South Carolina. She manages strategic electric grid modernization programs for Consumers Energy Company.

Consistent with the aims of her beloved sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Melanie has a penchant for sharing her leadership skills and experience with organizations that benefit children and serve the community. Melanie’s commitment to youth development is evident in her civic and volunteer work that includes her continuing service as a Trustee of the Okemos Public School District Board of Education since 2011. She is also a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where she serves on the Deaconess Ministry.
