Drake Phifer is a multimedia company entrepreneur with an affinity for community and cultural advocacy. He has made impact locally and nationally on the music industry specifically and the arts and cultural community in general.
In 2001, Phifer founded Urban Organic Marketing (UO) LLC, a concert event-production company. It produces and promotes multicultural events and concerts for top national musical artists. Through UO, Phifer has mentored many artists and helped launch careers of a number of acts: Kem, Robert Glasper, Jasmine Sullivan, Ledisi, PJ Morton, Avery Sunshine, Eric Roberson, Goapele, and others. His company has organized tours, directed publicity campaigns, and booked artists throughout the United States and Canada. Additionally, UO has conducted marketing campaigns for various automotive interests, beverage companies, and local and national publications. He holds a true kinship with the City of Detroit and feels its complete resurgence is tied to its embracing of the arts, which includes Detroit’s rich musical legacy
Phifer has been recognized for his entrepreneurial and community efforts by The Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, Michigan Chronicle, Rolling Out, Billboard, Blac, Uptown magazine, The Metro Times and Crain’s Detroit. He has served on the Governor’s Arts and Cultural Awards committee. He also worked as the Rental and Operations Director at the Charles H Wright Museum for 7 years, where he had oversight over the museum’s events and impacted public programming. Additionally, he served as Director of Marketing and Special Events for Real Times Media organizing events throughout the US. He serves proudly on several local boards, including Fresh Perspective Seminars and The Torch of Wisdom Foundation, Inc.
A forward¬ thinking Morehouse College graduate with a degree in English, Phifer is a travel enthusiast. In recent years, he has traveled to The U.K., he Netherlands, the Middle East, West Africa, and Southeast Asia.
