Description

Working with teenagers can be intimidating and can present a unique set of challenges. Competing interests, lack of motivation, and general indifference toward anything they don’t readily want to do can create obstacles. But teens are generally creative and have an innate ability to think outside the box! They are resilient and energetic and astonishingly curious! In order to successfully engage them, you must use strategies that lead to the building of authentic relationships. Teens rely on us to teach through modeling and example and they depend on us to demonstrate respect, authenticity, predictability, kindness, acceptance and grace as they navigate their own path toward adulthood. This workshop examines the best strategies to engage teens where they are, to enable you to have a positive and profound impact on their lives as Teen Advisors, and to get them excited about your Jack & Jill programming!

It will also prepare you to serve in the powerful role of Teen Conference Chaperone!

Serving as a Chaperone is one of the most special and significant roles during Teen Conference and comes with a great deal of responsibility. Therefore, all Mothers who perform chaperone duties must be trained and certified.

Our Chaperone Certification workshop will ensure all have a clear understanding of what to expect, Teen Conference Code of Conduct, and how to address various situations that may arise.

Each Chaperone must participate in mandatory Regional Teen Chaperone training certification either at Area Workday or at a later online training webinar.
